Bringing learning to life for everyone with knowledge to share.

Get to Know: Paul Gibbons

We want to help you get to know the many exciting and interesting people we have in the KnowledgePoint team. This week, we have Paul, one of our founders and Executive Officers.

Paul Gibbons

Let’s get personal…

Describe your favourite moment or experience from your education

I really enjoyed Art, Woodwork and Metalwork. I loved turning something from an idea in my head into a finished end product.

What have you learnt in the last 12 months?

How important it is to have the Right Products/Services, The Right People and The Right Vision

If you had a superpower what would it be, and why?

To be a time traveller and go back in time to pick up on the opportunities I now know I missed.

What do you wish you’d been taught in school and why?

It would have been great if there had been lessons about business and finance to get you better prepared for the real world. I think I would have started a business much sooner if I had known more.

Who (dead or alive) would you like to meet?

I would like to see my Father again and tell him all about KnowledgePoint as he had sadly died before we set the business up.

What could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?

I guess it would be a subject related to KnowledgePoint but I would have a stab at most things.

Do you have a favourite quote?

One of my favourite quotes is ‘The best way to predict your future is to create it’ from Abraham Lincoln

Tell us a surprising or a fun fact about you.

I once held the European record for the highest 10 pin bowling score over 3 games (798) Also, in the 80’s I bowled a 300 game which is 12 strikes in a row and was presented a solid gold ring in the form of 300 as this was a rare achievement in those days! By the way, I have never worn the ring for obvious reasons😊

Workplace learning and careers…

When you think of a good leader, what qualities and skills do you associate with them?

There are quite a number but key qualities they would need are, Vision, Integrity, Humility, Positivity, Strategic thinker, Good Communicator and Listener.

What do you expect from the workplace of the future?

A blend of home and office working (where possible) to give us all more flexibility to work and grow in a more balanced and mentally supportive way for ourselves, our families and in turn, our business.

What values/motives drive you in the workplace?

I want us to deliver a world-class service and continue to extend the services we offer.

What is your preferred method of learning (repetitive reading, taking notes, cue cards etc)

Taking notes and never being afraid to ask a question if I don’t understand something.

What’s a mistake you made early on in your career, and what did you learn from it?

Not starting a business sooner.

If you could get a new skill in 10 minutes, what would it be?

To speak another language

What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never be afraid to think outside the box!
