IT Manager

We are looking for a full time hands-on IT Manager with a strong technical system admin/system engineering background who will maintain, upgrade, deploy and provide support for KnowledgePoint’s IT infrastructure.

The IT Manager will also be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of our system infrastructure, including firewalls, physical and virtual server environment, installing and updating software, installing, and rebuilding existing servers, as well as other processes.

Main responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Manage system infrastructure including servers, storage, switches, routers, firewalls, antivirus and other software and hardware.
  • Take responsibility for the IT budget, planning renewals, licensing, and additional purchases, several years in advance and ensuring value for money.
  • Perform testing and evaluating new technologies; identify key projects and workstreams, consult where necessary and implement – or oversee implementation, prioritising major tasks and upgrades in liaison with other staff and Teams
  • Perform level 3 changes and projects such as server upgrades, migrations, and platform changes.
  • Monitor the system daily and respond quickly to any priority incidents, security breaches or usability concerns.
  • Backup and DR systems, verifying backups and conducting quarterly DR Tests.
  • Assist in integrating new applications and technologies into the current system.

You will also need to be available after hours to respond to the occasional priority incident and perform updates/upgrades/migrations after hours where required.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills/competencies:

  • Industry certifications including Microsoft (eg: MCP/MCSE/MCSA), Networking, Virtualisation (Ideally VMWare) and Storage.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the role of IT in supporting the strategic objectives of an organisation.
  • Ability to perform level 1 to 3 support, including user desktop support.
  • Ability to respond to priority incidents requests after hours.
  • Experience with Microsoft AD, Azure AD/Office 365, VMware Hypervisor and Storage Area Networks (HPE MSA SAN). Veeam Experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or other public cloud technologies.

You must also be able to work under pressure as part of a busy team; be able to plan, prioritise, schedule and manage a number of tasks concurrently, meeting set deadlines; be an effective communicator, building partnerships at all levels of the business; and be able to initiate and manage projects and tasks, utilising the available resource, and seeing them through to conclusion.

Working Hours: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with agreed out of hours schedule

Production Assistants

We’re recruiting for Production Assistants to join our busy print services facility.

We’re looking for people with a can do attitude.  Is this you?  Do you have a good understanding of on-demand production?  Or would you like to develop your skills in the production of materials for the learning industry?

This role is focused on ensuring learning materials are produced accurately and efficiently to customer specification and our quality control processes.  You’ll be involved in the operation of equipment such as printers, guillotines, binders, paper punches, shrink-wrappers, paper drills, booklet makers, saddle staplers, and other print finishing equipment. You’ll also be fulfilling and collating kit components, as well as packing and despatching orders.

The ideal candidate will have evidence of working in a print manufacturing environment; be conscientious and able to work under pressure as part of a busy team and to deadline.  We’re looking for candidates who’re highly focused with excellent attention to detail.  Is this you?  You’ll need good communication skills and be able to build partnerships at all levels of the business.  You’ll be able to work on own or as part of a collaborative team; with the ability to follow multiple processes, tasks and instructions accurately. You should also be computer literate with a positive attitude to work, and have an excellent attendance record.

Our production facility operates a shift work system, which includes UK Public Holidays (apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day). You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week in accordance with a shift rota which is drawn up in line with the operational requirements of the business. We’re currently working shifts that are on site and rotated weekly (Sunday to Thursday, and Monday to Friday). These may be subject to change depending on operational needs.
