Meet the Team – New Joiners!
We’ve done a few Meet the Team posts, and it’s now time to meet the new team members!
Izzy Smyth, Joel McPherson, and George Manock have all joined in the last couple of months – and we asked them some questions to get to know them!
George:
1. Who (dead or alive) would you like to meet?
My Great granddad – he was Swedish and brought over to the UK by the British government during the War, I never met him but would love to ask him about his life.
2. What could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?
I really enjoy my sport but in particular Rugby so I would go with that.
3. Describe your favourite moment or experience from your education.
It must be the feeling of graduating university!
Joel:
1. Who (dead or alive) would you like to meet?
I would want to meet XXXtentacion because not only do I like his music, but he was one of the few people to inspire me to go on a spiritual journey.
2. What could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?
I would do a presentation on basketball because I can talk about people that play the sport as well as my own experience playing and how it made me become better as a person. I can also talk about different kinds of games and how gaming can be a good thing as people tend to
think that it can be a waste of time.
3. Describe your favourite moment or experience from your education.
One of my favourite experiences was when my team and I helped raise money for a charity event by doing a FIFA tournament. It was good seeing people having good competitive matches and having lots of fun during the event.
4. Tell us a surprising or a fun fact about you.
For some time I have been trying to do new things and learn about spirituality so that I can evolve as a person. It also helped me be comfortable during lockdown. For example, I like doing things such as sun gazing as well as meditation to help me relax during rough times.
Izzy:
1. Who (dead or alive) would you like to meet?
I would love to meet Siya Kolisi, the captain of the SA Rugby team. He seems like a great leader and far more than just a rugby player. He has also won the World Peace and Sport Champion for 2019 award – he seems like an all-round humble and strong person.
2. What could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?
I could give you an in-depth explanation by month of TikTok trends (and all of the reasons/context surrounding them trending) that have occured since the pandemic started (there are a lot!). I suppose this happens when your job is in Social Media, or this is the excuse I use anyway 🙂
3. Describe your favourite moment or experience from your education.
My favourite moment in my education was matriculating from High School after spending my last 3 years studying my chosen subjects and being proud of my final results.
4. Tell us a surprising or a fun fact about you.
I spent 11 years in South Africa and speak fluent Afrikaans.
