Blog: How are you adapting to modern workplace learning?
Traditionally, workplace learning sits under the responsibility of the learning and development department. However, in the modern workplace, we are all responsible.
There are three aspects to look at when reviewing your modern workplace learning:
1. Learning and development department – This role in the modern workplace is supporting both managers and individuals with their learning. Enabling both individuals and managers to connect and learn from one another under the role of a mentor and mentee. As they build and develop social teams, knowledge sharing will take place
2. Managers – It is the role of a manager to take responsibility to advance their team so that they can self-direct their own learning. Managers should encourage social collaboration and support a self-sufficient learning mindset
3. Individuals – Everyone is an individual within the business, no matter which position they are in. Every one is liable for taking responsibility for their own development, selecting a mentor, building a professional network and finding out about the industry or profession
The modern workplace learning change has occurred in recent years, but it doesn’t mean there will be a decline in the role of learning and development – it will be even more critical than before.
